A Project Manager can be many things, but in the world of IT, a Project Manager is a person who oversees a specific IT team or IT project in a company. They are responsible for the planning, preparation, and execution of a project. In essence, they are the person people look to for direction and guidance in a project.
General Qualities of a Project Manager:
  • Time Management and General Managerial Skills
  • Able to manage and maintain a budget
  • Able to take responsibility, handle conflict, and delegate appropriately
  • Risk Management
An IT Project Manager knows the same skills and knowledge of their Software Developers or other IT counterparts in the project. Therefore, an undergraduate degree in IT or computer science is normally required.
